
Some Fifth Graders Are Starting To Date Early

Met parents don't 5th any reason for the fuss. I don't think it's a big deal. Parents make it into a much bigger deal than it is for the kids. This natural pairing off is what happens. For those parents who don't view Saturday night movie dates as a harmless or cute activity for year-olds, for concerns are different. Many are worried that children who are uncomfortable with such activities will feel unpopular or left out. It's so unfair for our children. Girls may not want to date, but they wonder and worry why the boys didn't ask them. Sherri Luckow, an Ardsley parent of three, who also has a fifth-grade daughter, said:.
They're not intellectually mature of emotionally mature to handle this. It's a small number of people who are actually dating, but it affects the whole class like a tidal wave. To some observers, early dating is an inevitable result of having graders graders in a middle school environment rather than in the confines of a self-contained elementary 5th classroom. For Mrs. Lorenzo, the early dating syndrome is an outgrowth of other social changes.
