The Havens bring “A Hope and a Future” to the vulnerable women and children, vulnerable youth and refugees of Johannesburg with sustainable change.
Initiatives
- Baby & Child Havens: 6 residential Joburg foster homes
- Malibongwe Mother and Child Project: a women’s empowerment initiative for mothers
- Sifundise House: an after-school tutoring and sports with Transformation Vrededorp, a Child Protection Office and Mobile Wellness sessions
- Home-Base: a residential home for young adults transitioning from institutions; 18-25 years
- Mobile Wellness Centres: Clinics where persons without medical aid can get assessments and referrals, prayer and encouragement.
- Crisis Response Team: This team operates when a crisis erupts in our area and an appropriate response is formulated.

Every Nation Church Joburg
The African Havens are the compassion and social ministry outreaches of Every Nation Church Joburg. Every Nation Joburg and its friends are the primary South African supporters to the African Havens. The majority of our volunteers are also members and friends of Every Nation Joburg.
Grace Covenant Church, Chantilly, Virginia
Grace Covenant Church of Chantilly Virginia, USA, a member of the Every Nation Family of Churches, sent Pastors David and Caroline Webb to work with Every Nation Joburg to develop the African Havens ministry in 2001. The church and its members are significant supporters of the African Havens. They sponsor major gift drives, including the 2010 drive for the purchase of the first Baby Haven and annual Christmas gifts for all the children.

History
African Havens started out as “The Alex Education Outreach” in 1995 and became “Masiphane Projects” in 1998. African Havens, through its numerous projects and initiatives, continues to provide a hope and a future to people all over Joburg. Masiphane Projects also traded as African Havens since 2003
An emphasis on residential care started when the first Baby Haven opened in 2003. A series of articles in the Johannesburg newspapers highlighted the large numbers of babies abandoned in local hospitals.
