Sifundise House is home to Transformation Vrededorp and our Child Protection Organisation (CPO) Office.

TRANSFORMATION VREDEDORP

Transformation Vrededorp came to life when church members out early jogging one morning were touched by the very small children who sat unattended on curbs in the Vrededorp neighbourhood. Together, they launched “Transformation Vrededorp”. Many faithful Christians have poured themselves selflessly into Vrededorp. From a Tuesday afternoon in the park, we expanded to helping children and teens with their schoolwork and reading. We added life skills, inspirational talks, discipleship groups and mentoring, all to bring hope to a destitute and overcrowded community. Volunteers and team members continue to provide homework support, tutoring, spiritual input, discipleship groups and weekly child and youth programmes.

After eight years, donors blessed us with a house as a base for the ministry. We called it Sifundise, which means “teach us” or “disciple us”. This community has a long way to go, but for these precious people there is hope of a better future with Jesus and spiritual family.

CPO OFFICE

Since African Havens were granted Child Protection Organisation status, we expanded our work to include social work interventions, family support services, behavioural modification activities, awareness campaigns and children’s advocacy. Having a local office with two social workers is monumental, enabling us to have a greater impact.
